Empowering Women, Embracing Diversity and Celebrating AANHPI Heritage Month
On Saturday, May 14th, 2022, we successfully held Empowering Women, Embracing Diversity in celebration of both the powerful women who lead our community, and Arizona's first official AANHPI Heritage Month. Our co-hosts, the Girl Scouts of Arizona Cactus Pine, provided us with a beautiful venue at their Parsons Leadership Center.
Nearly 100 attendees came to the event. The morning session was led by John Tulinao and Clare Remy, who taught us about AAPI History and Literature, and how to integrate this material into classrooms. Our second session featured a panel called [Her]story, Her Journey, moderated by Tanushree Ghosh. We were honored to have Dr. Ruth Lim, Diane Thomas, Ethel Luzario and Thanh Mai Le share their stories with us. We finished out the day with a fashion show displaying the beautiful traditional clothing of India, China, Korea, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.
