Intern Introductions
David Tang is a rising senior from Hamilton High School. His involvement with OCA since 2019 spans census promotion and voter registration within the AAPI community. He has gotten two event sponsorships from ACEL (Asian Corporate & Entrepreneur Leaders) for the census project. During the pandemic, he worked as the treasurer of the Modern Health Club to mitigate hygiene poverty for Native Americans via fundraisers. He is currently a student researcher at ASU and plans to pursue a career in engineering. He can be found at:
Gayathri Donepudi is currently a junior in high school at BASIS Chandler. She enjoys volunteering and coordinating events, martial arts, political advocacy, and biomedical research. Gayathri has worked with OCA for approximately over a year now and is invested in helping AANHPI women navigate their experiences with domestic and sexual violence. During the Summer of 2019, she worked with a fellow OCA intern to organize the event Together We Stand: Sexual and Domestic Violence Forum to allow women and men to learn from professionals and share their experiences with sexual violence and domestic abuse. Additionally, through various leadership positions in and outside of school, Gayathri has organized and conducted numerous blood drives, volunteer events, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns. Most importantly, she values direct community engagement and strives to ensure members of the AANHPI community have access to necessary resources and fair representation.
